8:25 am - it's official!

The military is officially retarded.
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/266494_aclu13.html
Their don't ask don't tell policy is just beyond words. They investigated this woman based on allegations, she didn't even say anything. She is a highly decorated nurse and they have discharged her. Isn't this a time when the military should focus on retaining people who are highly effective? I hope she wins the lawsuit. I hope the ACLU kicks their ass. Hopefully this will be a step towards the death of this wretched ,phobic policy.

So I found a new program. Still at boeing but now I am on the MMA program. So far... well.. I never realized boredom could be so excruciating. I figure that death from boredom would take about 8 hrs. So just when you are ready to leave, agghhhhhh!

So I just heard Willie Nelson's new song.. "cowboys are secretly frequently fond of each other" on KEXP. I guess this song was inspired by everyones favorite gay cowboy movie, brokebutt mountain. It sounds like he is sining "cowboys secretly frequently fondle each other." buahahaha, I couldn't stop cracking up throughout this song. Has anyone else heard it?

Other than that life is good. Might go snowboarding this weekend. Actually there are a lot of possibilities for this weekend. Sherry & sean invited me to snowboard with them but it might not be on the day that I can make it to the pass. Saturday I'm going sailing with christian and his buddies who are all these older guys that are pretty hilarious. Tradesmen types. Joanne & Ben want to hang out too but we haven't made any definate plans.

I pulled this quote from the fark.com comment boards. Pretty much sums up how I feel about free speech, especially pertaining to this recent danish cartoon business.

Crazy weekend! I played broomball with work dudes on saturday. For those of you not in the know, broomball is played on ice with brooms and a ball, simular to hockey but in tennis shoes and primative equipment. Sunday I went snowboarding, it was great. They had snow overnight and then it was clear all day. Around 1 everyone cleared out to catch the stuporbowl and there were virtually no lift lines! I caught the second half though at the bar right there on the slopes. They kicked us off at 5. I am so sore today, mostly my neck is stiff. I am not sure which sorenesses are from broomball or from snowboarding. I know the big bruise on my elbow is from broomball and I am pretty sure my neck is from not landing big jumps on my snowboard.
My roomate is watching over her parent's parrots, plus she has one of her own. So we have three parrots over. It's really not that bad though because the parrots she is watching after are really sweet. One of them is white and named chuckie, he always wants to be on my shoulder, its cute, he nuzzles me and gives me parrot kisses. The other one is grey & red and is named shadow. She hasn't said much to me and pretty much ignores me. This morning though, I was putting on my coat and out of the blue she says "bye" in a perfectly clear voice. Surprised me, but it was really cute.

Just got done playing D&D. It was hilarious. Our party is pretty much bent on random destruction. We tend to be slightly hyperactive too after drinking some. We got hungry halfway through and sent the Lesbian to get some Dick's (french fries). hehehe, word pun fun-ness. Not a good day for dieting though, she brought back 8 packs of fries and we put them in a giant bowl in the middle of the table and they were gone in no time. There was about 8 of us however, to our credit. Usually I eat pretty healthfully, I think this must be the gear up for superbowl. My favorite superbowl food is ruffles with french onion dip (gotta be the dip made with the liptons soup mix and a big thing of sour cream). I only eat this during the superbowl though, its so00oo bad for you.

11:35 am - teh flame war ensueth
|
So washington state finally decided it is wrong to discriminate against gays & lesbians for employment, housing and so forth. Already Tim Eyman is plotting the downfall of this civil rights law. Did he get hit with the evil stick, wtf?!
This editorial pretty much sums up my sentiment on this: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/257552_cred.asp
It's not up to the majority to decide the civil rights for the minority, otherwise women, blacks and so forth would never have been able to vote. Sometimes laws have to be made because they are the right thing to do. We leave it up to the people that we elected to represent us to make sure that happens. That's the whole point of an representative government. If we didn't have it this way Al Gore would be president right now, might I remind you.
I've been reading through the flame war that ensued from this editorial. Oh happy joy. I'm tempted to jump into the fray but I have to remind myself that arguing on the internet is like being in the special olympics... well you know the rest.

So I've been feeling rather anti-social lately. I've been avoiding people and isolating myself. I imagine people must think, oh such an awful thing, but I kind of like it. For a while at least. It is nice sometimes to just spend time with myself. After a week or two though I will get lonely and start reaching out to people but for now I think I will continue.
I found this video, it rocks. hahaha. I wish I had that much free time.

It's snowing so much at all of the ski type places. I wonder why I am going to work tomorrow, probably because I lack the cajones to call in sick when we are under intense schedule pressure.

So, I am trying yahoo!'s launchcast radio. My roomate, ladyithis, turned me on to it. It's pretty cool, you rate artists, songs and albums and it has some nifty algorithms to use those ratings to play stuff for you. Plus you can pick out other radio stations that you like and have them influence your station. It's like your own personal music playing pet that you can nurture and grow. Oh yay!
I was reading some articles about the "end times". It's pretty interesting some of the conclusions that are being drawn about the natural and political events that have happened lately. I think that there is some tendency of some people to try and relate any seemingly frequent occurance of unfortunate events to the "END TIMES!" Probably the most rational article I was reading about it said that the events of late are in no way the "end times" but could certainly be putting the pieces into place to gear up for the end times in the way that prophecies fortell. Especially politically with the EU and Israel.
I found it kind of interesting. I think that I would like to see the end of the world. Not that I want to die young or before my time but I think that I would want to die at the end of the world. I am kind of fascinated by the sort of chaos that would be bred by it. Societies crumbling, social fabric unravelling, governments toppling, order becoming meaningless. I just want to see that because it would be really.. really... different... and exciting!
Not that it wouldn't be horrible and miserable at the same time. At some level though I think I would be fascinated. I think it might be comparable to that adrenalyn rush you get when you are doing some stunt that you know is stupid and you could really hurt yourself but its just so exhillerating you can't let the fear of injury or death stop you from doing it. Perhaps I am looking at this from too much of a 3rd person perspective, maybe once I am in this position I would not think so. You never know though.

The airplane I write software for has been all over the new today. They had some kind of a showcase of it yesterday and the media of course was invited. I had my picture taken with my co-workers in front of it. Anyways, here is a link to an article about it. X-45C courtesy of the times
I'm thinking about taking some martial arts. I am going to go peek at some possible martial arts training places tonight. I took taekwondo for a year before and rather enjoyed it. I am considering either doing that again or maybe Aikido. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as martial arts?

So I just cleared up a virus that had infected my computer. Winfixer. This thing was a pain to remove too. Ran this program called cleanup! afterwards and it cleaned out all that temporary stuff. 1.5GB! Wow, did I need that. I think I might do a little defrag now and I will have my machine in ship shape.
So lately I seem to be having problems trying to balance my time between work, myself, friends and boyfriend. I know this is a common problem in life and everyone's balance points are different. It just seems that mine keeps getting tugged back and forth. I would really like to spend more time with my friends but I never seem to have enough. Spending time with my BF is always wonderful. Spending time alone also seems quite necessary. Work too.. is.. unfortunately necessary. I guess that is just how life goes.

4:48 pm - snow? yes please!
|
Well, aparently it is *trying* to snow in seattle. It's pretty wussy in the downtown area so far but it is sticking to roofs and such. I wish it would just get'er dun! and give us a few inches. At work though, this guy from colorado was dissin on our snow, such attitude. Such (insert state here) is better than washington attitude. I hate that. If you don't like it here, MOVE BACK, we don't want you here either if you are just gonna whine, complain and compare. The more of those types who move, the less I have to share my gorgeous state with ungrateful whiny pricks.
So I was thinking about it, and you know how people say that thunder is angels bowling.. I wonder if that would make snow God's dandruff. hahah.
I got my amazon package today. Monty Python Boxed set and Aeon Flux the complete animated collection (not to movie, but the series which rocked). I'm going to see the movie soon although I know it will probably dissapoint me. If it sucks, at least the movie prompted the re-release of the animated DVD. Aeon flux was my segway into anime. Loved that series. Does anyone else remember it?

Canadian government PWNAGE!.
When is it our turn to throw out our leader?!
Well in other news...
I went snowboarding this weekend. It was awesome. Snocrapamie pass actually got some snow, about 8 inches on friday night. Used my handy dandy seasons pass and went up all by my lonesome. Going alone is nice sometimes, although snowboarding is often more entertaining with companions and going with skilled people can help push your skill. Alone you can refine your technique better and talk to some new people, usually it is silly small talk on the lift sort of thing. Still nice.
Thanksgiving was nice. Went to a family & friends potluck deal. I made the sweet potato casserole, and I may say that it did rocketh. The best was the homemade pumpkin cheesecake though. Christian was sick and couldn't make it, he stayed home with pneumonia :( He got a blender friday and we had fun trying out different juice mixtures. Hopefully all those vitamins helped his sickness.
Time to tidy the room and drink some wine. Tonight I am drinking : Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir 2004, pretty good, not totally awesome though. I've been trying some random wines with the advice of mi madre, I think I am getting into this whole wine thing.

5:28 pm - Movie filled weekend.
|
This weekend I took it easy and watched a bunch of fun and not so fun movies. I reqatched napoleon dynamite, which was hilarious as usual. Then I saw kalifornia which was good and fun to crack jokes on (gotta love fake hick drawls). I saw Gus Van Sants' last days, which I think sucked. I know he was trying to be artistic and whatever but it just came out really forced. Plus the editing I think was bad. It didn't really invoke any kind of emotional response either, good or bad, I just watched it.
I'm hoping the snow at crapalmie pass gets better so I can use my pass without wasting gas to slooosh through some slush.

8:04 pm - A day in the life
|
So moving past the first post.. this is where I am supposed to write about what I did today right? well my day was pretty standard. I went to work, I sat in a cubical and programmed some code. Was going to go to the gym but didn't... the usual. I'm thinking about my weekend though. I am going to pyramid brewery's snowed in party on saturday. The bands aren't my favorites but it should still be fun. I want to do something active and fun, like snowboarding. The snow here is all melty right now though. stupid inversion layers . It is funny though how the seattle times today was predicting some 30 mile backup on I 90 for thanksgiving. DOOM AND GLOOM! 30 miles thats a bit excessive but hell, I'm gonna check the webcams just to see the fun. I am totally one of those rubber neckers, but it is easier from the safety of my computer.
